How to use this page
Don't start with the answer. Start with the cantus, sing your own line against it, and only then compare. Right or wrong matters less than the listening. The drill below paces that for you: it plays the cantus, gives you exactly one passage-length of silence to sing, then reveals and plays the answer — and does the same for the inversion.

Write second species above the cantus. Allow yourself a fifth only on beat 3, only by step. Invert, then check beat 1 of every bar before anything else.
